"Since I am a "senior citizen" and blissfully retired, I have taken many exercise classes from many different people.

These are some of the reasons I like One on One Portland Pilates:

  • The classes really happen as scheduled and on time.
  • If you have to drive, there is parking available (not a small issue in NW Portland).
  • The instructors I have had - for years are Linda and Barbara. They are both highly skilled professionals.
  • Although I take group classes, every person gets individual attention.
  • If you want a hard workout, you can get it, but if you have limitations, the exercises are personally tailored to your needs.
  • Even though my upper body is weak and puny, I am way stronger than I was when I started. I can actually do push-ups!
  • Best of all, it is fun! "

"I would imagine I have become the most ardent ‘one on one’ Pilates fan in the universe. Linda Kohl (one of the instructors) managed to take away all my aches and pains (believe me when I say they were numerous and debilitating and demoralizing), - and replaced them with a feeling of strength, agility and a newfound sense of well-being and empowerment. Of course there are new aches but they actually feel great!

She designed a program of Pilates (most amazing, never boring, inspiring workout ever) that is totally suited to my lifestyle and body type and accumulated injuries. Working together as a team we have managed to overcome two years of inactivity with a relative lack of pain and hardship.

I am stunned at my own progress and a little annoyed with myself for not starting sooner. Fear of pain was my enemy as I had enough to deal with on a daily basis without adding to it. I can’t begin to tell you how that feels and how it has impacted my life.

I discovered the One on One Studio in NW Portland and I couldn't be more satisfied, not only with the level of expertise in which the Pilates class is taught but with the level of individual attention I receive each class. I have certain limitations that are unique to my body and I find that without having to say a thing the instructor is making adjustments and checking in with me on the exercises to make sure my needs are met. I had heard about Pilates and the amazing core strength that you develop through it and had wanted to try it.  A friend of mine introduced me to One on One Portland Pilates and to Linda.  I have been addicted ever since.  Linda and Barbara are amazing instructors, they really take the time to get to know their students and really give that personal touch with adjustments and modifications that make you feel successful and safe at the exercise.  I am a part time instructor at 24hour fitness, and have tried other Pilates classes.  It is not the same.  Even though I do attend the group classes, you don’t feel like you are lost in the crowd.  I have been hooked since day one and although I have been with One on One Portland Pilates for 3 ½ years I still can feel challenged whether it is an advanced or beginning class because of the modifications Linda provides me since she knows my capabilities and limitations. When I first started with Pilates some of the exercises were difficult and I had back pain and my shoulders were tight, but with Pilates it has strengthened my core, and taught me to be simply aware of my body.  I now keep my abdominals engaged and shoulders down, and it has made a difference in my posture and I now rarely have back pain. Now that I am an instructor, Pilates has helped me with my classes and my overall strength.
